Hello!

I love painting in oils and love using Procreate – put them together and it is a great way to create digital art that mimics classical oil paintings. Whether you are fan of digital painting or not let me express why for even those purist painters amongst us why painting in Procreate is a good thing.

Firstly let me state that for me, real deal oils on real canvas just can’t be beat but there are at times issues with accessibility. You can’t always get to your studio or have the ideal environment that allows for you to waft solvents and paint. Using Procreate allows you to not replace real classical materials but instead allows you to explore concepts and palettes at times and places beyond your studio space.

Procreate is a wonderful way to hone your skills with zero loses or waste. Real paint and canvases are expensive and bulky so using the application to explore your subject studies really is a valuable approach to your work that does not detract from your final real painting, digital or otherwise.

And so in this Procreate classical brush set it includes 10 brushes that help block in color and detail. Also included are brushes that help give the illusion of the texture of bristles – that tactile quality that can disappoint in the digital platform.

Lastly in this set I’ve included a canvas texture image that is laid over your final work to really evoke the feeling of an oil painting.
